Book 1 of the Chronicles Of The Tuatha

Where do I start? There is so much to say about this first release by Jessica Leigh. This 286 page book was a wonderful read. It had the ability to grab me and keep me reading well into the night and a great plot that had me excited to keep reading and the way it ended made me grateful to already have book 2.

The story was told in third person but from several pov's which I have always enjoyed. At first, it is from the pov of the FMC, Rhiannon (Rhia) but once she meets the MMC (Rowan) it then becomes a split POV. I think the only thing I wish was different was the third POV, Aine (pronounced AHN-yuh). Her story is in the middle of the book and honestly could have been a book all on its own. Her history, imo very easily could have been much longer and I would have loved every second. That being said, the way Jessica intertwined it to the main story and main characters works beautifully.

There is a glossary at the beginning for pronunciation of words however there are full sentences in another language (old Irish) that are left undefined. For some that wouldn't be a bother but for me, I was left thinking about whether or not I pulled from context well enough.

The timeline moves along at quite a steady clip which I enjoyed because I don't really like a love story that falls out of a short time span. I prefer the slow burns. And the bad guy is indeed a bad guy and I was rooting for his demise throughout the book. I guess I'll have to keep waiting though! (oops is that a spoiler?)

So for me this was a very good read that I truly enjoyed and can't wait to watch Jessica's future work unfold. I hope there are many more things to come from her.
